Don practiced as a staff lawyer for Legal Aid Manitoba with the Criminal Law Office in Winnipeg, Manitoba for over three years, and articled at the office for another year. Donald also worked and
volunteered as a student with Queen’s Legal Aid and the Correctional Law Project in Kingston, Ontario. He won the Community Commitment Award at Queen's University for his volunteer work with Home
Alone, Queen's Legal Aid and the Correctional Law Project. As a law student, Don drafted and submitted a petition to an M.P. of the House of Commons on the events occurring in Sudan. He has also
taken part in a drive along with police in Brandon, Manitoba.
Don volunteers with Salvation Army Pro Bono Program on a regular basis, and has supervised UBC Law Student Legal Assistance Program clinics. He is signed on as a volunteer lawyer with the B.C. Civil
Liberties Association. Don is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association.
Don has also worked at various other jobs. He finds that his work history helps him relate to his clients. Don worked as a dishwasher, shipper/receiver, security guard, cashier, waiter, teaching
assistant, research assistant, and policy analyst, along with several other odd jobs.
